Turkish Coast Guard Rescues 46 Irregular Migrants Pushed by Greece

A total of 46 irregular migrants were rescued from boats off the coast of Turkey’s Aydın and Mersin provinces, Turkish Coast Guard Command announced in a statement on Thursday.

The boats carrying 46 irregular migrants were pushed back to Turkish territorial waters by Greek Coast Guard forces, according to the statement.

Turkey has traditionally been a major transit port for irregular immigrants to enter the European countries.

According to the official reports, 454,662 irregular migrants held across the country in 2019.
