The Action Group’s correspondent in the Returnees Camp in Homs reported that citizen Muhammad Hamduni, known as “Abu Asaad”, was subjected to an armed robbery in broad daylight, in front of a money transfer office in the center of Homs.
According to eyewitnesses, two masked men riding a motorcycle attacked the victim and asked him to show his ID, but he refused. At that point, one of the attackers tried to stab him in the hand, which was holding a bag containing 6.5 million Syrian pounds, prompting him to scream and call for help from passersby.
Despite the crowding in the market, no one intervened to save him, which forced him to eventually leave the bag to the attackers, who quickly fled.
The incident raises growing concerns about the escalation of armed robberies in the city, amid calls to enhance security and protect citizens from these recurring crimes.
