The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria has released the English version of its new report, “The General Landscape of Palestinians in Syria in 2024,” which covers numerous issues pertaining to Palestinians in Syria during 2024.

The report notes that 2024 was an exceptional year, marked by numerous events that impacted Palestinians in Syria, most notably the Israeli war on Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, which resulted in the displacement and homelessness of thousands of them, including casualties. The second event that marked a new chapter in their history was the fall of the Syrian regime and the flight of the ousted president after the Syrian opposition seized power in Syria.

In addition to these two prominent events, thousands of Palestinians continued to be displaced from their homes and increased emigration from Syria, even before the fall of the regime. This was due to widespread poverty, their dependence on humanitarian aid, the deterioration of the moral and ethical structure of society in regime-controlled areas, and the security restrictions and legal instability in Syria and in countries of displacement and asylum.

The report, divided into twelve chapters, reviews the most significant developments in the situation of Palestinians in Syria. The Action Group for Palestinians in Syria seeks to inform decision-makers and Palestinian, Arab, Islamic, and international institutions and associations of their current situation and to confront them with their responsibilities, which require them to enhance their response to the difficult humanitarian conditions facing Palestinians in Syria. They also need to develop their operations to provide physical and legal protection, taking into account their status and treatment as refugees who have been expelled from their homes numerous times.

This report, issued by the Action Group for Palestinians in Syria as a human rights organization, is part of a series of reports and research that monitors the situation of Palestinians in Syria and the violations and incidents they have been subjected to since 2012. This report aims to document an important phase of the Palestinian refugee experience and prepare the necessary documentation to defend their rights in various international and legal forums.
