Latakia – Action Group
On Sunday, 15 June 2025, the Action Group, in cooperation with the Social Development Committee in the Palestinian camps of Latakia, launched a training course in photojournalism. The course is being held at the committee’s headquarters in the camp, under the supervision of Mr. Ahmad Mashaal, a specialist in photography and media production.
The first day witnessed a notable turnout from local camp residents, particularly youth and staff members, who expressed strong enthusiasm to learn the basics of photojournalism. The training emphasizes video storytelling using accessible tools such as smartphones, with the goal of empowering participants to document and share their lived experiences through media platforms.
The opening session included an introductory presentation on the course’s goals and structure, followed by theoretical discussions on the principles of journalistic photography and its importance in portraying reality. Participants explored both photo and video techniques used in visual journalism. The day was marked by dynamic interaction and concluded with practical exercises.
This course is part of a broader initiative by the Action Group to empower Palestinian youth in the camps both journalistically and socially, equipping them with tools to better express their issues, challenges, and aspirations through effective and impactful media.
