Palestinian camps in Syria revolt in solidarity with Gaza and in rejection of starvation and genocide.

Several Palestinian camps in Syria witnessed widespread public mobilization on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in support of the people of the Gaza Strip and in condemnation of the siege and starvation policy that the Israeli occupation authorities have continued to impose on the Strip’s residents for nearly two years.

In the Sayyida Zeinab camp, south of Damascus, dozens of residents flocked to Al-Quds Square in the center of the camp, expressing their full solidarity with the residents of Gaza and denouncing what they described as a “war of genocide and mass starvation” to which civilians are being subjected, amid the ongoing daily bombardment, the closure of crossings, and the prevention of the entry of food and medicine.

In Khan Danoun camp, a massive demonstration was organized through the camp’s streets, during which participants raised Palestinian flags and banners demanding the lifting of the siege and an end to violations against children and women. They also chanted slogans in support of the steadfastness of the Palestinian resistance. One of the event organizers emphasized that “refugees in Syria still consider themselves part of the battle for liberation and return, despite years of displacement.”

The Sabinah camp witnessed two simultaneous marches: the first was a spontaneous nighttime march organized by Palestinian youth that set off from in front of the Muadh bin Jabal Mosque to Al-Madaris Street, and the second was a solidarity stand called for by the Palestinian Lawyers Association in the camp, which issued a final statement condemning “the policy of genocide practiced by the Zionist entity against the residents of Gaza” and calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities.

A popular march was held in Al-Aedin camp in the city of Hama yesterday evening, in which slogans were raised condemning the Israeli aggression and calling for urgent action to break the siege imposed on Gaza. Meanwhile, the Jaramana camp in the Damascus countryside witnessed a mass stand in front of Al-Rahman Mosque, in which representatives of civil and development institutions participated, affirming their steadfast support for Gaza and their rejection of the policy of collective punishment.

These popular movements come in response to calls launched by humanitarian and human rights organizations around the world, which declared Sunday a day of Arab and international anger in support of the people of Gaza in light of the ongoing catastrophic humanitarian conditions and severe shortages of food, water, and medicine, coinciding with the prevention of aid entry by the occupation authorities.

Medical sources confirm that most of the injuries and deaths in Gaza were recorded in the head and chest areas, indicating the deliberate killing and targeting of defenseless civilians, especially those who go out in search of aid.

These protests and demonstrations reflect the deep bonds between the Palestinian people inside and in the diaspora, and confirm that the memory of the Nakba is still alive in the souls of refugees despite decades of displacement, and that the battle for dignity continues from Gaza to the camps.
