Zaman al-Wasl newspaper revealed official records from Sednaya Military Prison, known as the “Hospital Transfer Record,” which include extensive lists of detainees transferred to military hospitals in Damascus, with the word “corpse” next to many of the names.

According to the documents, one record shows the death of Palestinian refugee Hani Majed Nahar, a resident of Khan al-Shih camp, along with 19 other detainees, after he was transferred from the prison to Tishreen Military Hospital on May 14, 2015, due to kidney problems resulting from torture and medical negligence. His body was then handed over just five days later.

The documents also show that the victims’ names were accompanied by numbers in red and bore the signatures of doctors working in military hospitals, including Dr. Majd, Dr. Ghassan, Dr. Mohammed, and Dr. Ali. The records also list the names of supervising officers, including Lieutenant Ali Habib, and the signature of Colonel Mahmoud Ahmed.

These records cover the period between 2014 and 2016 and include hundreds of detainees, many of whom died under torture or medical neglect.

These leaks are part of a campaign launched by Zaman al-Wasl under the title “Death Cabinets,” which aims to reveal the fate of thousands of people forcibly disappeared in the detention centers of the former Syrian regime. This move sheds light on what is considered one of the most prominent human rights violations in the country.
