The Internal Security Service in the Sidi Maqdad area, south of Damascus, announced the implementation of a “selective” security operation that resulted in the arrest of Zuhair Amara, nicknamed “Abu Muhammad,” on charges of participating in the Ali al-Wahsh massacre, which resulted in the death and loss of lives of a number of civilians.

The service explained that the operation was carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities, noting that the accused will be referred to the competent judicial authorities to pursue legal action against him.

The security service called on anyone who believes they have a grievance or complaint related to the accused to visit the State Security Office in the Sayyida Zeinab area, south of Damascus, to submit their testimony.

For their part, human rights organizations emphasize that any arrest must guarantee the basic rights of the accused, including the right to a fair and transparent trial, in addition to ensuring that victims and their families have access to justice and redress, as this is an essential step in establishing the principle of accountability and ending impunity.

It is worth noting that the Ali al-Wahsh massacre occurred south of Damascus in 2014, claiming the lives of more than 1,500 people, including 442 Palestinians.
