Abu Abdullah al-Khadra, a Palestinian from Douma, donated half a million dollars to support the reconstruction of hospitals, mosques, and schools damaged during the years of conflict. This donation is part of the “Our Countryside Deserves” campaign.
According to the campaign organizers, the donation is part of a community effort to rebuild the city and improve basic services for residents.
Activists say this charitable work is an extension of a history of mutual initiatives between Douma and Palestine. During the 2008 Gaza War, women from the city donated their jewelry and gold to support the people of the Strip.
Campaign sources confirmed that donations are still flowing today and are offered “in memory of the martyrs of Palestine and Syria,” a reference to what the organizers see as a bridge of human solidarity between the Syrian and Palestinian peoples.
