Egypt | Action Group

In an exclusive statement to the Action Group for Palestinians of Syria, Sheikh Wajih Muwa’ed, a member of the Hajj and Umrah Committee at the Syrian Ministry of Religious Endowments, announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has agreed to grant Syrian Palestinians the right to perform Hajj starting with the 2026 Hajj season.

Muwa’ed explained that the decision comes after a hiatus of more than six years and is the culmination of significant efforts exerted by the Syrian Ministry of Religious Endowments and its Minister, Muhammad Abu al-Khair Shukri. He expressed his gratitude to both the Syrian Ministry and the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

In a call with the Action Group’s correspondent, Muwa’ed stated that the details of the decision are not yet clear, including whether Saudi Arabia has imposed any additional conditions on Syrian Palestinians.
He indicated that members of the committee will soon return to ascertain the specifics of the decision.

Muwa’ed added that the resumption of approvals represents a new glimmer of hope for Syrian Palestinian pilgrims in Syria, Turkey, Egypt, and other countries holding Syrian travel documents. It restores a religious and humanitarian right that they have been deprived of for many years. He emphasized that the Ministry is working to overcome all obstacles to facilitate travel procedures for registered pilgrims.
