Handarat Camp: Meeting with UNRWA to Discuss the Restoration of 80 Homes and the Rehabilitation of Facilities

Action Group – Aleppo

The Community Development Committee in Handarat Camp held a meeting with representatives of UNRWA to discuss several urgent service-related issues affecting the camp’s residents.

During the meeting, a project to renovate 80 damaged homes was reviewed as part of ongoing efforts to improve living conditions for families who have recently returned to the camp.

The discussions also addressed the condition of the camp’s electricity network, exploring practical steps to strengthen power supply and reduce frequent outages. In addition, committee members raised concerns about water contamination and related illnesses, stressing the urgent need to tackle the issue due to its direct impact on residents’ fundamental rights, particularly access to safe drinking water and adequate healthcare.

The meeting further covered plans to develop the camp’s overall infrastructure, including improving basic facilities and essential services, in order to provide a safer and more stable living environment for residents.

It is worth noting that Handarat Camp suffered extensive destruction and the forced displacement of its residents in recent years. Although Palestinian families have gradually begun returning to their partially destroyed or rehabilitated homes, the need for improved services and dignified living conditions remains a pressing priority
