Italian coast guard announced that 20 migrants drowned in the Mediterranean Sea including two children due to the sinking of their boat. The coast guard confirmed that the boat which was carrying about 130 migrants sank about 30 miles from the Libyan coast due to air leakage from it while travelling from Libya to Italy looking for illegal immigration to European countries which led to the sinking of the 20 migrants.
Italian police said that the Italian coast guard teams rescued 110 people who were on the boat and transferred them to the Italian island of Lampedusa. According to the International Organization for Justice, more than 2,300 people were drowned in the Mediterranean Sea in the previous month while trying to reach Europe illegally.
It is noteworthy that Libya is one of the crossing stations of the Syrians, Palestinians and other refugees in which thousands of the Palestinian immigrants went through it towards Europe.
