22 Refugees, Including 13 Children Drowned while Trying to Reach Greece

In Greece, where news agencies confirmed that 22 refugees were killed yesterday in two incidents of drowned while trying to reach Greek islands launching from the Turkish coast.
The Greek Coast Guards recovered the bodies of 19 migrants, including six women, eight children, and two babies on Friday morning off Kalymnos Island following the sinking of their boat. According to preliminary information, the boat was carrying about 150 people during the night and the Coast Guards rescued 138 migrants.
A woman and an infant sank in another boat, while six passengers were rescued while searching is still continues for another three refugees off the island of Rhodes.
In a speech to the parliament, the Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, described this accident, as “a human tragedy,” and said: “As a European administrator, I am ashamed of the inability of Europe to defend its values”.
It is worth mentioning that international statistics indicate that 3000 immigrants drowned in the Mediterranean while trying to reach Europe.
