UNRWA said the Agency is committed to fulfilling its mission in support of Palestine refugees in Gaza, including those who fled war-torn Syria, despite considerable challenges and pressures.
The UN Agency said that due to the funding crunch emerging in mid-2018, it suspended rental allowances for refugees whose homes have turned uninhabitable by the Israeli offensive of 2014.
UNRWA added that a six-month job will be secured for underprivileged families in the Israeli-blockaded enclave starting August 1 as a way to compensate for the freeze of rental allowances, as recommended by the ad hoc committee.
