UNRWA Reduces its Food Aid and Fill the ATM for the Displaced Palestinians of Syria in Lebanon

UNRWA has announced that it will fill the ATM cards for the Palestinian refugees coming from Syria and those who are eligible for cash assistance who registered their informationtill 14 – 4-2015, according to the UNRWA. The assistance consists of 40,000 LL for each member in the family instead of food, in addition to 150,000 LL for the family instead of shelter.
UNRWA has also announced that starting from April it will implement regional standards for food assistance in Lebanon, and clarified that all Palestinian refugees displaced from Syria to Lebanon who are qualified to take advantage of this assistance will receive a value of 40,000LL, which means reducing food aid by 5000 LL in compare with previous times.
This step comes in difficult living conditions experienced by (51,300) Palestinian refugees displaced from Syria to Lebanon, where they complain of stressfuleconomic crises as a result of unemployment and the lack of a steady income, in addition to their unstable legal status in Lebanon as a result of the laws established by the Lebanese authorities.
It is noteworthy that UNRWA has stopped its cash aid to 1200 Palestinian Syrian family since October 2014.
