{"id":86375,"date":"2022-05-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/actionpal.ahmadalkhuleyf.net\/post\/13158\/"},"modified":"2022-05-28T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T21:00:00","slug":"13158","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/actionpal.tech\/en\/post\/13158","title":{"rendered":"2 Palestinian Brothers Pronounced Dead on Migration Route"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">A Palestinian refugee family said their son Mahmoud Ali Tayeh who had gone missing off the Tunisian coast has just been pronounced dead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">Mahmoud&#8217;s death was confirmed on Friday, just a couple of days after his brother Husain was also pronounced dead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">The family&#8217;s friends in Tunisia headed for Sfax governorate where the victims&#8217; bodies were identified.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">A few days earlier, the family of Palestinian brothers Husain Ali Tayeh, born in 1999, and Mahmoud Ali Tayeh, born in 2001, appealed to international human rights organizations to work on identifying their sons&#8217; condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">Both Husain and Mahmoud, raised in AlNeirab Camp for Palestinian refugees, in Aleppo, had disappeared after the Europe-bound migrant boat sank off the southern Tunisian island of Kerkennah on May 25.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">A rubber boat sailed from the coast of the city of Zuwara in northwestern Libya carrying 100 migrants and asylum seekers before it sank last Monday off the coast of the state of Sfax, southeast of Tunisia.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">According to the International Organization for Migration, 24 people were rescued, and 76 others are still missing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">Six Palestinian refugees from Syria have been detained along with other asylum seekers by Libyan authorities since May 25.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">The asylum seekers were transferred to custody in the city of Zuwara in northwestern Libya. They were trying to reach Italy when they were arrested.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">AGPS has been able to identify the six Palestinian refugees: Mohamed Afifa, Ali Nabulsi, Omar Kadurah, Osama Khatib, Mohamed Mustafa Mi&#8217;ari (born in 1992), and Jamil Mohamed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">Their families have urged the Palestinian Authority, the International Red Cross, and the other international human rights organizations to pressurize the Libyan authorities to immediately release their relatives.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Palestinian refugee family said their son Mahmoud Ali Tayeh who had gone missing off the Tunisian coast has just been pronounced dead.
