{"id":86448,"date":"2018-12-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-04T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/actionpal.ahmadalkhuleyf.net\/post\/8039\/"},"modified":"2018-12-05T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-12-04T21:00:00","slug":"8039","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/actionpal.tech\/en\/post\/8039","title":{"rendered":"20 Palestinian Refugees Arrested by Thai Authorities over Illegal Stay"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>23 refugees, including 20 Palestinians, were arrested by the Thai police on Monday, following a raid on their residences and over allegations of overstaying their visas.<\/div>\n<div>A police Major General told Thai news outlets that a meeting will be convened with UNHCR delegates on December 6 to discuss the situation of over 2,000 migrants who have disembarked in Thailand and to seek possible ways to send them to other destinations.<\/div>\n<div>Activists quoted the migration police chief in Thailand as threatening, in statements circulated on Facebook, to detain all Palestinian refugees in Thailand, whom he called a \u201cmafia\u201d\u009d.<\/div>\n<div>Human rights activist Fatma Jabeur slammed the UNHCR in Thailand for dragging its feet over the crackdowns perpetrated against the refugees around the clock.<\/div>\n<div>Jabeur said the UNHCR staff demanded that the Thai police arrest all migrants who rallied outside of the UNHCR office a few days earlier and handed over their photos and addresses to the Thai policemen over allegations of involvement in acts of sabotage.<\/div>\n<div>The activist urged the UNHCR to take serious measures in order to protect the refugees and work out their situation without further delay.<\/div>\n<div>On December 1, a group of Palestinian and Arab refugees rallied outside of the UNHCR&#8217;s office in Bangkok, protesting the UN&#8217;s apathy regarding their tragic situation.<\/div>\n<div>Some 600 stranded migrants, including 50 Palestinian families from Syria, have been at the risk of arbitrary detention and refoulement in the Thai territories.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>23 refugees, including 20 Palestinians, were arrested by the Thai police on Monday, following a raid on their residences and over allegations of overstaying their visas.
