{"id":92779,"date":"2018-07-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-07-16T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/actionpal.ahmadalkhuleyf.net\/post\/7436\/"},"modified":"2018-07-17T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-07-16T21:00:00","slug":"7436","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/actionpal.tech\/en\/post\/7436","title":{"rendered":"Palestinian Photojournalist Niraz Sa&#8217;id Tortured to Death in Syrian Government Jails"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Palestinian photographer Niraz Sa&#8217;id, from Yarmouk Camp, died under torture in Syrian government jails, where he had been detained for three years.<\/div>\n<div>Niraz Sa&#8217;id was kidnapped on October 2, 2015 by Syrian government forces and dragged to a detention center in Damascus.<\/div>\n<div>His wife Lamees al-Khatib lamented him on Facebook saying, \u201cIt&#8217;s so hard to say it but yes they killed my beloved husband, they killed Niraz. They killed you my soulmate! Niraz was killed in Syrian government dungeons.\u201d\u009d<\/div>\n<div>Sa&#8217;id left Yarmouk after ISIS stormed the camp on April 1, 2015. Sa&#8217;id, along with other peaceful activists, faced several assassination threats.<\/div>\n<div>The casualty received several awards for his works of art documenting the different phases of the blockade imposed on Yarmouk. One such reward was given to him by UNRWA during a photography competition. Sa&#8217;id&#8217;s timeless photograph capturing the anguish of children affected by the ongoing conflict in Syria won first prize in the European Union-supported 2014 UNRWA youth photography competition. Titled \u201d\u02dcThe Three Kings&#8217;, the image shows three brothers waiting their turn to leave the besieged refugee camp in order to receive medical treatment.<\/div>\n<div>Sa&#8217;id received several international awards for his film \u201cLetters from Yarmouk\u201d\u009d.
