The shocking report, “The Painful Harvest,” issued by the Action Group, revealed the heavy price paid by Palestinian women in Syria during the years of conflict. The report recorded 570 victims and 273 female detainees, a stark indication that violence has not spared women in the bloody conflict.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to the report issued by the Action Group for Palestinians of Syria, these figures represent 13% of the total Palestinian victims in Syria, while female detainees constitute 3.8% of the total number of detainees.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The detailed report revealed that: 570 Palestinian women were killed in Syria, 273 women were detained or forcibly disappeared, 36 women died under torture in prisons, and 194 female victims were from Yarmouk Camp alone.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The report recorded that women died due to: indiscriminate shelling of homes and residential neighborhoods, stray bullets and snipers from the warring parties, siege and deprivation of food and medicine, not to mention drowning during attempts to escape by sea.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The report confirmed that Palestinian women faced double suffering, as they bore the burden of supporting their families after losing their breadwinners, and were subjected to arrest, torture, and enforced disappearance. They also bore the brunt of displacement and forced migration, and faced serious health and psychological challenges.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The report included testimonies from families confirming that \u201cPalestinian women paid a price beyond their capacity,\u201das many became breadwinners for families after losing fathers and sons, while others are still waiting for word about the fate of their disappeared daughters.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Working Group called for:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201d\u00a2 Providing special protection for female survivors<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
