{"id":98600,"date":"2021-06-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-19T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/actionpal.ahmadalkhuleyf.net\/post\/11912\/"},"modified":"2021-06-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-06-19T21:00:00","slug":"11912","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/actionpal.tech\/en\/post\/11912","title":{"rendered":"UN blacklists Syrian Government for Violations against Children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">On Friday, UN Secretary-General, Ant&oacute;nio Guterres, included the Syrian Army on the blacklist of countries and groups violating the rights of children in conflict areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">In addition to Syrian government forces, the UN also blacklisted Myanmar army and Houthi militants in Yemen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">This came hours after re-appointing Guterres, who has been as UN Secretary-General since 2017, for a second term.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">Agencies reported that the UN Secretary-General decided not to include Israeli forces on the list, but the UN only urged Israel to review and strengthen measures to prevent any excessive use of force.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">After his endorsement for a second term, Guterres vowed to use his second term to work towards ensuring \u201cthe blossoming of trust among nations\u201dand to engage in confidence building, according to UN website.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">AGPS said it has recorded the death of 252 Palestinian refugee children in war-torn Syria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">The list of Palestinian victims includes 70 children who died due to the blockade imposed by the Syrian government forces and its armed allies on Yarmouk camp for Palestinian refugees, south of Damascus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">AGPS also documented the secret incarceration of 49 Palestinian minors in Syrian government prisons, where two children died under torture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">Sworn affidavits by ex-detainees confirmed the presence of toddlers swung in their moms&#8217; arms in Syrian prisons and whose fates have remained shrouded in mystery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">Thousands of children have gone orphaned after they lost one or both of their parents in the deadly warfare.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">The war in Syria has had traumatic fallouts on Palestinian refugee children in and outside of Syria.
