However, the labor dispute (disagreement with the employer) will be kept up until workers demands are met as per the agreement struck under the auspices of host countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">A one-day general strike was held by the Staff Union one day earlier in UNRWA&#8217;s five fields of operation (Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and Gaza), in line with the meeting of the Advisory Commission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">The Staff Union said in a statement issued on Sunday that the strike is a protest move ahead of an open-ended strike to be staged starting Thursday, December 2 across UNRWA&#8217;s five fields of operation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">The Union is urging UNRWA to cancel exceptional and unpaid leaves given under the pretext of funding deficit and to retroactively resume annual bonuses suspended since March.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent; color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:times new roman; font-size:14pt\">It further calls on UNRWA to create labor opportunities, recruit more Palestinian refugees, end temporary-work and day labor policy, pay November and December salaries, and implement the decisions of the Beirut Conference.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The General Union of UNRWA Staff Workers announced its decision to suspend the general strike, which was slated to be held on Thursday.
