A Mortar Shell Fell on Khan Al Shieh Camp amid Violent Clashes in the Surroundings, and Activists Confirm that about 40% of its Buildings were Affected because of the Frequent Shelling

A mortar shell landed on a house in Khan Al Shieh camp at dawn on Thursday, where the shell was dropped in front of the police station, causing a state of fear among people, especially children.

 The damage was confined to materialism, and coincided with violent clashes broke out at Al Salam highway amid artillery shelling that targeted the eastern vicinity of the camp, coincided with illumination rounds by the regular army in the vicinity of the camp.

Moreover, all roads connecting Khan Al Shieh camp with neighboring regions are still closed except (Zakya – Khan Al Shieh), amid suffering experienced by residents as a result of targeting the only port which feeds the camp.

In the same context, activists in Khan Al Shieh camp confirmed to the AGPS that about 40% of homes and buildings have been damaged due to the repeated bombing that targeted the camp.

Activists added that damage ranged from full destruction, where some affected houses have become totally uninhabitable and need to be demolished and rebuilt again, and partially damaged, where some homes need immediate maintenance in order to be inhabitable.

It is worth mentioning that the camp witnessed a remarkable rise of military operations that targeted the camp in recent weeks with explosive barrels and artillery shells, which are the most dangerous and the most commonly used.
