Entire Palestinian families fled the hell of war in Syria to various parts of the Earth, some of them chose neighboring countries, and others risk their lives and their children and chose to ride boats of death to reach Europe.
Some others chose Brazil since it is easy to obtain a visa from any Brazilian embassy in the countries of the world, as well as the easy procedures and the cheap prices of tickets to it, in addition for being a gateway and a station to immigrate to Europe.
Palestinians in Syria resorted to several Brazilian cities, mostly inhabited in Sao Paulo city, which is the largest city in Brazil, due to the presence of a large number of refugees, and for being an important commercial and economic center, but they have faced dire economic and living conditions and numerous problems.
 One of these problems is that the Brazilian government failed to provide any relief features or material aid for the refugee such as travel, accommodation, employment, vocational training, and language classes’ cards, but gives them a temporary residence card for two years. Meanwhile, the refugees are complaining from the difficulty in integrating with the Brazilian community because of the differences in customs and traditions, as well as the high cost of house prices, and the lack of financial resources.
There are no official documented numbers or statistics for the number of Palestinian Syrian refugees in Brazil, in spite of the existence of the Palestinian Embassy and the General Union of Palestinian institutions, but the National Committee for help Refugees “Conare” announced that the number of refugees who arrived in Brazil until the end of 2014 has reached approximately 1794 refugees, without discrimination between the Palestinians or the Syrians.
