Palestinian Return Centre in collaboration with Rights of All Foundation in Geneva carried out a workshop on the right of return for Palestinian refugees; the workshop came on the sidelines of the annual session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations.
A working paper was submitted by a researcher at the Center, “Sadia Dar,” which focused on the importance of the right of return of the Palestinian and the legal frameworks that ensured that right.
Where the researcher stressed that the right of return is the only solution to the problem of the Palestinian refugees who suffer from forced a displacement until the moment where they are not welcome in some host countries, which consider them as a population burden.
Adding that “we have seen the ongoing Syrian crisis and the new catastrophe that affected tens of thousands of Palestinian refugees who fled the fighting to several Arab countries that did not welcome them, forcing them to ride the sea, where a lot of them died in an attempt to search for a better life.”
In his turn, the Director of Media and Public Relations Department at PRC, Mr. “SamehHabib” pointed out the need for the UN to assume its real role to resolve this issue, which exceeded six and half decades, at least through the disengagement of the United Nations organizations with regard to the mandate on the Palestinian refugees in the Diaspora .
