Delegation from Fidder “The Turkish Organization in Solidarity with Palestine” discussed with “Dr. Fateh Tuna” the foreign relations officer in Turkish AK party, the legal status of Palestinian Syrian refugees displaced to Turkey, this happened during a visit to Istanbul Division to congratulate winning the last elections. The two sides talked about the situation and the developments of the Palestinian uprising, especially in Jerusalem, and the blockade of Gaza and the suffering of Gazans who are facing tough conditions.
Mr. Mohammad Mushinish, the director of Fidder, pointed out the sufferings of the Palestinian Syrian refugees in Turkey, explaining different aspects of their sufferings during their way to Turkey. From his part; Dr.Fateh asked for extra data about this issue to be handled within the AK party’s meetings and to be discussed to find the appropriate solutions to this humanitarian issue.
Mr. Mushinish earlier had called for concerted efforts to serve Palestinians in Turkey, and to reach full coordination with the Turkish authorities to allow Palestinian refugees to obtain visas legally rather than to risk themselves through smuggling, and to facilitate the procedures of obtaining Palestinian Authority passports for refugees and to be free.
According to unofficial statistics; the approximate number of Palestinian Syrian refugees in Turkey, estimated at 6000-8000 refugees live in province of Istanbul and central and southern Turkey provinces according to the report of “The Palestinians of Syria.. bloody diary and inaudible screaming” issued by the AGPS last August.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish authorities continue preventing Palestinian Syrians from obtaining entry visas via its embassies especially in Lebanon.
