Jaramana Camp – Action GroupÂ
A large protest took place this Monday morning at the UNRWA health center in Jaramana Camp, located in the Damascus suburbs, as residents rallied against the reduction of health and humanitarian services provided by the agency.
Participants held signs urging UNRWA to fulfill its obligations toward Palestinian refugees, emphasizing that any decline in service quality poses a direct threat to their lives, especially amid worsening living conditions in the camp.
Protesters stressed that UNRWA is not merely a service provider but a witness to the historical plight of the Palestinian people. Upholding its responsibilities, they said, is integral to preserving the historical and national rights of refugees.
The demonstrators also reaffirmed their commitment to the right of return to their original homes in Palestine, in accordance with UN Resolution 194. They declared that the camps are temporary stops””not substitutes for their homeland.
At the end of the demonstration, the protesters issued an urgent call to the international community and United Nations institutions to shoulder their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and to act swiftly to prevent any measures that may harm the rights of Palestinian refugees, whether in Syria or across the diaspora.
