Latakia – Action Group
Last night, a fight broke out in the Raml Palestinian refugee camp in Latakia between a number of young men from the camp and others from the neighboring Al-Gharraf area. The altercation escalated to the use of firearms.
According to a correspondent for the Action Group, the fight resulted in injuries to three young Palestinian men from the camp:
Ahmed Willy, who sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery;
A second young man, identified as (A.H.), who suffered a superficial shrapnel wound; and a third, (A.T.), who sustained a thigh injury. Both the injured young man and the second wounded man were detained at the Internal Security branch.
The correspondent noted that the Public Security Forces intervened to end the clash, which continued until the early hours of the morning. Tension prevailed in the vicinity of the camp, with residents demanding increased security measures to ensure their safety.
This incident comes amidst a growing phenomenon of the proliferation of uncontrolled weapons within Palestinian camps in Syria, accompanied by frequent incidents that threaten the security and safety of the residents. There are widespread public demands to control weapons and hold those involved in their use accountable.
