Lebanon: Palestinians of Syria in Lebanon Organize a Sit-in at Wadi AL Zain area Protesting the Reduce of UNRWA’s Services

Under the slogan of “UNRWA was founded for the Palestinians not to starve and displace them,” dozens of displaced Palestinian Syrian families in Lebanon organized a sit-in in front of “UNRWA” office in Wadi Al Zain area at the city of Sidon ”‹”‹southern Lebanon.
The sit-in came as a rejection of the resolutions issued by the UNRWA recently, which stated to reduce its services for the Palestinian refugees in general, and the Palestinians of Syria in particular, where it cut shelter allowance, reduced the amount of food aid, as well as it cut financial assistance to about 1200 Palestinian Syrian families.
The protestors called on the Palestinian factions, the PLO, and the human rights organizations to urge UNRWA in order to back down its decisions, and to put pressure on donor countries to pay their financial obligations to UNRWA.
At the end of the sit-in, protesters handed a protest note to the Director of the UNRWA office in the territory of Sidon and Al Kharoub area,  Dr. Ibrahim al-Khatib, in which they demanded to reconsider its decision, which will have negative repercussions on the living and humanitarian conditions.
