Palestinian Young Woman Dies from Electric Shock in Her Home in Al-Nayrab Camp

Aleppo – Action Group

Rawan Mousa Al-Darbi, a 23-year-old Palestinian woman, tragically passed away in the early hours of Monday after suffering a fatal electric shock in her family’s home in Al-Nayrab refugee camp, east of Aleppo city.

According to the Action Group’s correspondent, the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. during a power outage. Rawan was in her room attempting to switch the power source to the household battery when she inadvertently came into contact with an exposed electrical plug attached to a fan. The contact resulted in a severe electric shock that claimed her life instantly.

Her mother, who was in the adjacent room reading the Qur’an, reported that she became concerned after her daughter was absent for an unusually long time. Upon checking on her, she found Rawan lying motionless on the floor.

Rawan had recently completed a hairdressing training course and was preparing to launch her own small business in the camp. Her life was cut short just as she stood on the threshold of a new beginning.

This tragic incident sheds light on the persistent dangers posed by frequent power outages and the deteriorating electrical infrastructure in refugee camps, compounded by the lack of public safety measures.
