The Syrian Ministry of Interior has confirmed the deletion of more than 150,000 new records from the “Immigration and Passports File”database, most of which were related to previous measures issued by the Ministries of Defense and Interior, as well as security agencies.

The announcement came in a post by Interior Minister Anas Khattab on the “X”platform, where he explained that the deletion was carried out by a specialized committee that includes the Information Directorate, the Criminal Security Directorate, and the Immigration and Passports Directorate, in cooperation with the Ministries of Defense and Justice. He noted that the step aims to “ease the burden on citizens and facilitate their travel.”

He added that the latest deletion comes as a continuation of the implementation of Decision No. 20 issued last March, which had canceled about 4.7 million records, most of them related to cases of defection, evasion of mandatory military service, and travel bans. With this, the total number of removed measures has reached 4.85 million.

Khattab confirmed that the specialized committee will continue its work to “eliminate all unfair measures”that hinder citizens’ transactions, in coordination with the Ministries of Justice, Defense, and Finance
